The ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research (ICAR-DWR), Jabalpur (M.P.) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vidhyashree Traders, Shiv Nagar, Damoh Road, Jabalpur on 22nd July 2025 for the licensing and technology transfer of an innovative implement developed by the Directorate—"Adjustable Spray Boom Holding Attachment for Multinozzle Knapsack Sprayer."
The MoU was signed by Dr. P. K. Singh, Principal Scientist and In-charge Director, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur, and Smt. Rasmi Jain, Proprietor of Vidhyashree Traders, marking a significant milestone in the Directorate’s ongoing efforts to promote farm mechanization and practical weed management solutions. This adjustable spray boom holding attachment is a farmer-centric innovation that enhances the functionality of conventional knapsack sprayers by enabling uniform spray coverage, adjustable boom height, and ease of operation with multiple nozzles. The attachment is designed to improve the efficiency of herbicide application while reducing chemical wastage and operator fatigue.
The agreement paves the way for the commercialization of this technology, allowing Vidhyashree Traders to manufacture and distribute the product on a larger scale, thereby helping bridge the gap between research innovations and field-level adoption. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. P. K. Singh highlighted the significance of such partnerships in translating research outputs into tangible benefits for farmers. He reiterated ICAR-DWR’s commitment to developing need-based, scalable, and sustainable technologies for Indian agriculture. The MoU signing was witnessed by scientists, as well as PME and ITMU members of ICAR-DWR, along with representatives from the industry partner. This collaboration is a shining example of effective public-private partnership in agricultural innovation, with the potential to benefit a large section of the farming community.
