The ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur organised programme on the occasion of release of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan)

The ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur organised programme on the occasion of release of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) on August 2, 2025 by honourable Prime Minister. The event witnessed the participation of 120 farmers from various villages of Patan block, and nearby areas including DWR staff. Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director, ICAR-DWR, welcomed the farmers and highlighted the objectives and benefits of the PM-Kisan scheme. He emphasized the importance of such programmes in ensuring that farmers are well-informed about the initiatives available to support their livelihoods. Dr. P.K. Singh, Principal Scientist at the Directorate, provided an overview of the major research and extension activities undertaken by ICAR-DWR. He also engaged in a productive interaction with the participating farmers, addressing their queries and concerns.

As part of the programme, farmers listened to the live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address, during which he released the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Over ₹20,500 crore was directly transferred to the bank accounts of approximately 9.7 crore farmers across the country, further reinforcing the government's commitment to farmer welfare.

Farmers got aware about various schemes of Government of India. During the programme, Honourable Prime Minister specially lauded the efforts of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan. Programme was also graced by the presence of Sarpanch of two villages of the Patan localities. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Yogita Gharde, Senior Scientist, ICAR-DWR.
