A Training-cum-Farmer Scientist Interface Meeting and Distribution of Critical Inputs was successfully organized on 11th June 2025 at Khukkham village of Kundam block, Jabalpur, under the Farmer FIRST Programme (FFP). The programme aimed to promote scientific cultivation practices and enhance rice productivity in the region through the distribution of hybrid rice seeds.
A total of 38 farmers, including 18 Mahila Kisans, actively participated in the event. As part of the programme, hybrid rice seeds (Variety: RH Super 444 Gold) were distributed to 33 farmers, including 15 women farmers. The technical session was conducted by Dr. P.K. Mukherjee, Principal Scientist and PI of FFP, who delivered an in-depth presentation on hybrid rice cultivation, covering essential aspects such as nursery preparation, seed rate, transplanting time, nutrient and water management, weed control, pest and disease management, harvesting, and post-harvest practices. Farmers have shown keen interest, participated actively, and sought expert advice on various agronomic concerns.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Deepak Pawar and Dr. Jamaludheen A., Scientists and Co-PIs, and facilitated by Dr. Monika Raghuwanshi, Senior Research Fellow (SRF) under FFP. The training-cum-interface meeting was highly informative and impactful, with the enthusiastic participation of farmers-especially Mahila Kisans-highlighting their growing inclination toward scientific farming. The distribution of hybrid rice seeds as a critical input is expected to significantly contribute to increased rice productivity and sustainable agricultural development in the region.
