A training cum farmer-scientist interface meeting on weed management in wheat and distribution of Critical Input were organized at Khukkham village under Farmer FIRST Programme

A training cum farmer-scientist interface meeting on weed management in wheat and distribution of Critical Input were organized on 28th November 2025 at Khukkham village, Kundam block, Jabalpur with the objective to empower the farmers on weed management in wheat and improve the understanding of the farmers on technical know-how of high potency, new generation, low dose, ready-mix herbicide distributed as critical input.

The meeting was led by Dr. P.K. Mukherjee, Principal Investigator of FFP, and coordinated by Co-PIs Dr. Jamaludheen A, scientist. A total of 54 farmers, including 21 Mahila Kisans, participated in the meeting. Dr. Jamaludheen introduced the topic of discussion and shared the importance of weed management in wheat. Dr. P.K. Mukherjee initiated the discussion on the feedback of the farmers on performance of hybrid rice and weed management in rice. After that, Dr Mukherjee delivered the lecture on different aspects of weed management in wheat and explained the application techniques of VESTA (Clodinafop + metsulfuron methyl) herbicide, along with the safety measures to be followed during its use in the wheat crop.

As part of the programme, VESTA herbicide was distributed to the 50 farmers as a critical input. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Jamaludheen.
