The ICAR–Directorate of Weed Research (ICAR-DWR), Jabalpur organized a Training-cum-Agricultural Input Distribution Programme for Scheduled Caste farmers under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) which aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting scientific farming practices, and improving the livelihood of scheduled caste farmers.
Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director, ICAR-DWR, graced the programme and emphasized the importance of technology dissemination, capacity building, and timely availability of quality agricultural inputs for increasing crop productivity and farmers’ income. He highlighted that such initiatives play a significant role in socio-economic upliftment of Scheduled Caste farmers through improved agricultural practices.
During the programme, Dr. P.K. Singh, Principal Scientist; Dr. V.K. Choudhary, Principal Scientist; and Dr. Yogita Gharde, Senior Scientist & Nodal Officer (SCSP) interacted with the farmers and provided technical guidance on improved crop production, nutrient management, weed management, and plant protection measures. As part of the programme, agricultural inputs were distributed to the farmers, including mungbean seeds (var Virat), DAP fertilizer, herbicide, fungicide, and insecticide to support crop production and plant protection during the cropping season. A total of 110 farmers of 10 villages from the Patan locality benefitted from the programme. Dr. Deepak Pawar, Dr. S.I. Kuwardadra, Mr. Ghanshyam Vishwakarma assisted the programme.
