ICAR-DWR Celebrates 38th Foundation Day

ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research (ICAR-DWR), Jabalpur celebrated its 38th Foundation Day at the Directorate on 22 April 2026 with enthusiastic participation of scientists, staff, students, and distinguished guests. At the outset, the Director, Dr. J. S. Mishra, welcomed the guests and participants, and highlighted the key achievements of the institute during the past year.

Chief Guest Dr. P.K. Mishra, Vice Chancellor, JNKVV, Jabalpur appreciated the achievements of the Directorate. In his address, he highlighted the importance of efficient weed management technologies for sustainable production Dr. Mishra urged scientific community to continue research in prioritized areas such as natural farming and reduce the pesticide use for benefit of farmer as well as stakeholders so that they can improve their socio-economic condition and agricultural production with less input.

The Guests of Honours, Dr. Mandeep Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, NDVSU, Jabalpur; Dr. A. K. Pandey, Former Vice-Chancellor, Samrat Vikramaditya University, Ujjain; and Dr. A. K. Vishwakarma, Project Coordinator, AICRP on Sesame and Niger, Jabalpur, addressed the gathering and appreciated the achievements and ongoing research activities of the Directorate. Eight publications were also released on the occasion. Progressive farmers, and best workers in various categories such as scientific, administrative, technical and supporting, of the institute were also honoured. Dr. P. K. Singh, Principal Scientist and Foundation Day Programme Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks.
