A farmer–scientist interaction-cum-awareness programme on “Balanced Use of Fertilizers” was organized on 19 May 2026 at schedule cost dominated Raithra village of Patan block of Jabalpur district by ICAR–Directorate of Weed Research (ICAR–DWR), Jabalpur. A total of 34 farmers, including 22 male and 12 female participants including sarpanch of the village, attended and actively interacted in the programme.
During the interaction, Dr. P.K. Singh, Principal Scientist, ICAR–DWR, highlighted the importance of balanced fertilizer use, Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), green manuring, bio fertilizers, crop diversification, and the inclusion of leguminous crops in crop rotations to improve soil health, crop productivity, and long-term agricultural sustainability. He also emphasized effective weed management to enhance fertilizer use efficiency and reduce nutrient losses.
The participants actively engaged in discussions and expressed keen interest in adopting balanced fertilization and INM practices for sustainable agricultural production. Dr. S.I. Kuwardadra, Scientist, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena, Assistant Chief Technical Officer, along with the staff of the Directorate, actively contributed to the successful organization and conduct of the awareness programme through effective farmer interactions and awareness activities.
