The Directorate organized a Training-cum-Agricultural Input Distribution Programme for Scheduled Caste farmers under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP). A total of 120 farmers benefited from the programme, which was aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting scientific farming practices, and improving the livelihoods of scheduled caste farmers.
Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director, ICAR-DWR, graced the programme and emphasized the importance of technology dissemination, capacity building, and the timely availability of quality agricultural inputs for increasing crop productivity and farmers’ income. He highlighted that such initiatives play a vital role in the socio-economic empowerment of Scheduled Caste farmers through the adoption of improved agricultural practices.
During the programme, Dr. P.K. Singh, Principal Scientist; and Dr. Yogita Gharde, Senior Scientist and Nodal Officer (SCSP), interacted with the farmers and provided technical guidance on improved crop production technologies, nutrient management, weed management, and plant protection measures. As part of the programme, hybrid maize seed and rice seed (variety JR-21) were distributed to the farmers to support crop production during the upcoming cropping season. In addition, under the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’, 120 farmer beneficiaries were provided with biofertilizers to promote soil health, improve nutrient-use efficiency, and encourage sustainable agricultural production. During the programme farmers shared their experiences. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Deepak Pawar. Dr. Sahadeo Kuwardadra and Mr. Ghanshyam Vishwakarma assisted the programme.
