The ICAR–DWR, Jabalpur, organized a live webcast of the national programme for the release of the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) on 20 June 2026. The webcast enabled PM-KISAN beneficiary farmers, scientists, staff members, students, and Panchayati Raj Institution representatives to witness the national event and gain awareness about the Government of India's initiatives for the welfare and prosperity of farmers. The national programme was organized at Tarakeswar, Hooghly district, West Bengal, where Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, released the 23rd instalment of PM-KISAN, transferring more than ₹18,880 crore directly to the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore beneficiary farmers across the country through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
During his address, the Hon'ble Prime Minister reiterated the Government of India's commitment to strengthening Indian agriculture and improving farmers' livelihoods through various farmer-centric schemes and development programmes. He inaugurated and dedicated several development projects to the nation and highlighted the efforts being made to modernize agriculture, strengthen rural infrastructure, and ensure inclusive agricultural growth. The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan, calling upon farmers to protect soil health and fertility through the adoption of natural farming, organic farming, balanced nutrient management, and other sustainable agricultural practices for ensuring long-term productivity and environmental sustainability.
The programme at ICAR–DWR was presided over by Dr. J. S. Mishra, Director, ICAR–DWR, and coordinated by Dr. P. K. Singh, Principal Scientist, ICAR–DWR. A total of 288 participants attended the programme, including 189 male and 99 female participants. The gathering also included 24 Sarpanches and Up-Sarpanches representing different villages, along with scientists, staff members, students, and other stakeholders. As part of the programme, biofertilizer packets of Azospirillum and Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) were distributed to the participating farmers to promote balanced nutrient management, improve soil fertility, and encourage sustainable agricultural practices.
