The ICAR–DWR, Jabalpur, organized a Farmer–Scientist Interface Meeting-cum-Input Distribution Programme under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) at Dungariya village of Mandla district, Madhya Pradesh, on 29 July 2026. The programme aimed to strengthen farmers' knowledge on scientific weed management and monitor the performance of Herbicide-Tolerant Rice (HTR) technology demonstrated under the TSP programme. During the interaction, the scientist discussed the recommended methods and appropriate timing for the application of imazethapyr herbicide in Herbicide-Tolerant Rice for effective management of weedy rice. Farmers' queries related to weed management and crop production were also addressed.
As part of the programme, imazethapyr herbicide was distributed to 12 beneficiary farmers for the second round of application in demonstration fields planted with Herbicide-Tolerant Rice. The demonstration fields were also visited to assess crop performance and obtain farmers' feedback on the technology under field conditions. The team further visited beneficiary households to review the rearing of Kadaknath chicks distributed earlier under the TSP programme. Technical guidance on scientific backyard poultry management was also provided to enhance livelihood and nutritional security among tribal farming families.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Jamaludheen A., Scientist, and Dr. M. K. Meena, ACTO, ICAR–DWR, Jabalpur. A total of 17 tribal farmers participated in the programme. Overall, the programme strengthened farmers' awareness and enhanced their confidence level in adopting scientific crop and backyard poultry management practices.
