ICAR–Directorate of Weed Research (ICAR–DWR), Jabalpur, celebrated the 11th Ayurveda Day with the objective of highlighting the importance of Ayurveda and promoting awareness about its relevance to healthy and sustainable living. The programme emphasized India's rich Ayurvedic heritage and the importance of strengthening the interface between traditional knowledge and evidence-based scientific research. The event also highlighted the growing efforts to make traditional healthcare knowledge more accessible, safe and relevant to contemporary society.
The programme was graced by Dr. J. S. Mishra, Director, ICAR–Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur, as the Chairperson. Dr. R. N. Sahu, former Assistant Professor, Government Ayurvedic College, Jabalpur, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. R. K. Shrivastava, retired Ayurveda Medical Officer, was the Guest of Honour. Dr. P. K. Singh, Principal Scientist and PME in-charge, along with scientists, officers and employees of the institute.
At the outset of the programme, in his welcome address, Dr. J. S. Mishra, Director, ICAR–DWR, highlighted the significance of Ayurveda for a healthy mind and body of employee working in any organization. The Chief Guest, Dr. R. N. Sahu, delivered a special address on “Importance of Ayurveda for a Healthy and Happy Life and elaborately covered the importance of herbal plants, especially weed species with medicinal value to cure different illnesses, and emphasized the relevance of adopting appropriate healthy practices in daily life. He elaborated on the significance of Ayurveda in maintaining health and well-being. Dr. R. K. Shrivastava also addressed the gathering and shared his views on Ayurveda with the participants.
Dr. Deepak Pawar, Dr. Sahadeo I. K., Mr. Rajendra Kumar Hadge, and Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena actively coordinated the programme. The celebration provided an important platform for creating awareness about the relevance of Ayurveda in building a healthier future.
